It has always been a big part of the vision for Juxtapose Art Fair to give the artists as much control as possible over how they present themselves.

Rather than curating the exhibition with a specific theme, we encourage our exhibitors to showcase who they are as an organization. Because of this it is essential that we can host all kinds of projects in a flexible and unique way - both to accommodate the art and to empower our exhibitors to create their own distinctive spaces in the exhibition venue.

Therefore in 2021 we ran a competition for architecture students to come up with a solution that is flexible, easy to assemble, easy to store, sustainable, fairly cheap to produce and that can tie together the huge exhibition space in an interesting way. Two very talented students from Aarhus School of Architecture came up with a brilliant solution, making them the winners of the competition (sponsored by Bauhaus): Luca Bilbo Rasmussen & Selma Lindhardt Blomberg.

Together they created an extremely flexible and beautiful exhibition module - a wooden board cut with slits of two different lengths. These slits allow the boards to slide together without nails, screws, or power tools. The modules can be used to create partitions, walls, tables, shelves etc.

For the first edition of the fair we produced over 1000 modules and gave a stack to each exhibitor to create their own exhibition booth. This invited a lot of in situ experimentation and play with the modules. It also encouraged a lot of conversation and cooperation between neighboring artists.

We invite prospective exhibitors to research the modules and imagine their possibilities when developing ideas for the open call.
